How Can We Tell What Is Good Or Bad? :: essays research papers

How Can We Tell What Is Good Or bounteous?     To circulate what is good or bad, a person needs to project what he or sheconsiders to be virtuously sound and unrighteous. A persons morals ar taught by theirparents and from the nightspot from which they are raised.     Society is not disquieted about what is good or bad, but how to obtainmoney and power. notes and power can dilute the values of what batch judgemorally right. While the moral way of living would be to work a normal fortyhour week to earn income, the easy and immoral way is to lie and cheat in theiroccupation to obtain promotions and benefits. Aristotle said,      all art and every "scientific investigation", as well as every actionand "purposive choice," appears to aim at some good, beca rehearse the good     has rightly been declared that which all things aim (Aristotle, 517).Today society is not aimed at good. T his society has become a "me" society.People are thinking of "me,me,me" rather than thinking of the good of others. This society has found it pleasing for a football superstar to be found withan illegal medicate to depart the judicial system with probation and again to playfootball. This is a dependable example of how people today in our society live theirdreams by celebrities. People idolize immoral sport stars instead ofholding in a higher admiration common everyday people, who are deity fearing, hardworking, and ethically moral.     While in this society it is hard to tell what is true, it is also hardwhen compared with other societies. For example, some European countries havelegalized the use of mild drugs. These countries have attributed this towardless crime. Putting the question of right or wrong on the individual ratherthan, in our case, the government. In the States the majority considerlegalization of drugs wrong, but has it really worked our way? are not alcoholand tobacco just as dangerous, causing brainpower altering effects, attributing todeaths and diseases everyday? Why are not these illegal? The apprehension is becausepeople in our society hold a higher regard for the "almighty dollar" rather thanthe safety and health of their fellow musical composition Apparently this society has adouble-standard. On one fall advertise and sending messages telling kids to"Dont Do Drugs", but on the other hand televising, for all the world to hear, apresident admitting to smoking marijuana and interview him laugh about it. Thissociety expects the best out of kids, but rewards people who take shortcuts.Showing kids it is easier to live an immoral life rather than a moral one
